In April, when I was working on lesson plans for summer, I was searching ideas for younger children and art in motion. I thought of making pinwheels with them and came across this website! I thought it was worth sharing, as I enjoy celebrating the International Day of Peace. http://www.pinwheelsforpeace.com/pinwheelsforpeace/home.html
Hi Everyone! I dare you to donate. Commute to work or school once by bicycle, eat less for lunch, resist the impulse buy at the store this week.... Instead take that money that you might have spent and donate to a cause to help others for my friend,Nike Start! All proceeds will send Nike to Africa and let him take a step towards social change!http://empowered.org/Nike-Start/The-Innovation-Institute-Impact-Market
I have an artist a day show up on my igoogle. Whenever I log on to google I see a new artist and a piece of their art. Today I was especially distracted by Julia Barello. At a glance, I saw a circular design which I often think of mandalas. I went to look closer and saw beautiful birds, much in the style of Braque, and flowing in a glow, like a milky way, or "Starry Night". When I clicked on the link to see more details I was surprised to see that the work was actually 3-D. She has cut out recycled MRI and x-ray scans and arranged them to make layers of wall installations. It's absolutely amazing. Check it out for yourself!
